LATER. Cleveland's Election Confirmed.
Washington, Novpmbei' 7. — General Glover Cleveland, the Democratic candidate, has teen elected President of the United States. Washington, November 5 It is generally believed that Mr Blame will be elected to the Presidency. The result is still uncertain, and the elections are being keenly contested on both sides.
The following verses on vagaries of the cable, which appeared during the RussoTurkish war, might be applied to the recent reports about General Gordon :—: — On Monday morn the news arrived. There had been bloody work ; But no one kn«w which lied the most— The Christian or the Turk. On Tuesday morning Russia claimed A victory for her side ; On Wednesday, " From a Turkish source, The victory was denied. On Thursday each side awore it had The other put to rout. And Friday's news the fight confirmed, Without the slightest doubt. On Saturday 'twas whispered round The whole affair wae small, And .-unday's cable news declared There' 4 been no fight at all !
