(Fiom the Auckland "Star," Oct. 27.) The annual steeplechase meeting under the auspices of the Pakuranga Hunt Club took place at the Ellerslie racccoiuse on Saturday atternoon. Tho weather wtb splendid, the sport good, and tho oilioors of the Club .succeeded in (getting the events off without a hitch. Mr Thori. Mon in acred as judge; Mr E. 1'- Donnelly as starter ; Mr Mai Us as cleik of tho scales; and Mr Tom Broun as cleik of the roui>e. Laxon), St. Dunstan (Gyrs, l:M, 101b, O'Sullhan), Comanche (oyr.-,, 12»t 21b, Webber), and Mdrmion (syr>, I2st2lb, U. Laxon) also tan. Betting : 3 to 1 against Jonathan Wild, 4 to 1 against St. Dunstan. Tourist had tho race well in hand, uhen ho bolted outside the rails. Despite this mistake, he managed to finish a length behind Jonathan Wild. Totalizator dividend, £3 3s. Mr Brimblecombe'a b m Julia Ann (30sovs.), syrs, lOst I3lbs (Frewin) . . 1 Grey Momus (50sovs., aged, 12st lOlbs, J. Rae), Poclophyllin, late St. S within (40sovs., aged, 12st 31bs, D. Taylor), Mannion (40 soys., syrs, list 91bs, E. Williams) also ran. Betting: 2 to 1 against Groy Momus, and Julia Ann. This race proved a gift to Mr Brimblocombe's marc, none of the others horses finishing. Totalizator dividend, £2 10s. The winner was bought in by his owner for £31 10a. Pakuranga Hunt Cluk Cup Steeplechase. — Handicap for a piece of plate value 30sovs ; second horse to receive ssovs. Distance, about 3^ miles. Mr It. E. Isaacs's br q King Don, aged, 12st41bs(T. Halstead) 1 Mr A. Buckland, jun., ns b q Sunray, aged, 12st lOlbs (F. Yonge) 2 Mr J. Chadwick's eh q Topthorn, 4yrs, list 121bs (owner) <^ Sir Garnet, aged, 12st Slbs, owner ; Fly, aged, 12st 61bs, E. Laxon ; Jedwator, aged, 12st Gibs, owner ; Tidal Wave, aged, 12st, W. Betting : 3 to one against Sir Garnet and Fly ; 7 to I against King Don, Sunray, Topthorn, and Chieftain ; 10 to 1 the others. This proved a most exciting event, and the winner turned up in the old 'chaser King Don, who, despite his " dickey " leg, succeeded in landing a winner by 20 lengths. Dividend, £8 ISs. Tho Polo Pony Kace, a half-mile flutter, was won by Mr Frank Burtt's Larry, Mr Donnellys Dear Little Buttercup being second, and Major Shepherd's Ensign third. Open Steeplechase (Handicap), of 30sovs. Second horse to receive ssovs. out of the stakes. Distance, about 3 miles. Mr Brimblecombe's b m Julia Ann, syrs, list (Frowin) 1 Mr H. Huckstop's b m Mignonette, aged, list 41b (Harford, 41bs over) 2 Jedwater (6yrs, 12st, Rae) and Podophyllin (aged, list 61b, E. Williams) also ran. Jedwater was made a warm favourite for this, the betting being 2 to 1 bar one. Julia Ann, however, succeeded in putting another winning bracket after her name, though that game little mare Mignonotto seemed to have the race well in hand until the last half mile. At the last jump, her rider Harford was thrown, and broke his collarbone. This did not deter him from remounting &n<\ finishing second, Dividend m 7b,

He made a mistake in tb«? second round, however, and though by it hv lost fully 100 yards, ho succeeded in finishing a good second. Dividend, £2 19s. The old grey, who was a favourite at level money, won easily. This brought a highly enjoyable afternoon's amusement to a close.
