Thames, Last Night. Correspondence leeeived by relatives of the Wild Duck cruising 1 party wuioh left Flmmes .for New Guinea in April last, furnishes particulars of a brush with the Native^, in the course of which (J larles Law lor, one of the owners of the vessel, iVna soniv'what severely wounded. A fter reaching 1 Port Moresby the party embarked in the Bedie de Mer tra<le, <uid wevu assisted in their opoi.itions by a number for* ■ipp.uentiy friendly blacks. On one occasion when Lawlor was engaged in hointing 1 the anchor of ve-sol's boat, a n.it ye pushed him overboard and endeavoured to drown him, and in tin- struggle which en xik'ii auoth 'i* attacked him witn i sp -ar. With the cissi'-tanue of lii-^ comrades he eventually succeeded in "tilting rid of his iissiiliints, but not until several na->ty wounds had been influ-te i. He was then assisted on board the ketch in a of insensibility, and after this evidence of treachery the party deemed it advisable to return to Oooktown. According to latent information the wound jd man had coniplotely recovered from the consequences of his adventure.
