The polling as advertised, to elect a member to represent To Aroha Riding on Piako County Council took place yesterday. It occasioned but little interest, very many did not go to the trouble of recording their votes at all, as *Mr E. K. Cooper, one of the candidate^, had given the Returning Officer written notice of his desire to withdraw his nomination, and had requested his supporters to take no part in the election. The result was made known about half-past six, and was a* follows : — Murphy, 109 votjs ; Cooper 10 votes ; Informal, 1 majority for Murphy 99.
