THE NEW MINISTRY.
Six Members Sworn In, Six members of the Government have been sworn in with portfolios as follows ;—; — Sir Julius Vogel, Colonial Treasurer, Postmaster - General, and Commissioner of Stamps. Mr Stout, Premier and Attorney-General. Mr Ballancp, Native Minister, Mr Tole, Minister of Justice. Mr Richardson, Minister of Public Works. Mr Reynolds, without portfolio. Another Minister for Auckland. The Ministry desire to give the vacant portfolio to an Auckland man. At present Mr Cadman seems the most probable.
Burning a Member in Effigy. Invehcaegill, Sept. 3. —Mr Cowan, member for Kakanui, was burnt in effigy at Gore last night. The proceedings were exceedingly lively, and the police had to interfere to prevent the cremation taking place on the public street.
