BIG FIRE AT CHRISTCHURCH

Ciibistchurch, September 2. At four o'clock yesterday afternoon a fifteen-roomed house, and a four-roomed cottage, in Antigua-street, belonging to Mr John Lamb, were destroyed. The fire broke out in the large house. Mr Lamb is away in Sydney, and the family wore out at the time. The cause of the fire is unknown. The building was insured for £200 in the Northern and £200 in the United. Mr Lamb's furniture was insured for £250 in tho Australian Mercantile Union. Mr Allaway, who occupied the smaller house, was uninsured. The loss of the buildings destroyed is estimated at £700.
