MUTINY AND MURDER.
Pii!L\i>i:i/hiia, August I.— The startling story thai the crew of the schooner Julia Baker, bound from New York for Point-a-Pitiio, had mutinied, killed Captain John Louis and had been selling the cargo in the Wc«t Indies, led the owners of the vessel Waincr and Mcrritt, to make inquiries. The result was that circumstances were disclosed of a most suspicious nature. The master of the schooner had taken her into Key West, Florida, and was there selling the carcco under market prices. A description oAhis person claiming to be Captain Lewis wa« obtained, which strengthened the suspicions. Captain Lew is was about 40 years of age, rather tall and stout, and the description ot the present commander is altogether different. Albert Merritt, of the firm of Warner & Merrit, expressed the opinion that a mutiny had occurred on board the schooner; that a fight took place in which Captain Lewis wal killed, and that the crew, seeing that they were in for it, determined to sell the cargo and escape. Warner & Merritt later received a despatch from the Collector at Key West staling that the captain and | four men of the Julia Baker have been ar- | rested.
