, Dunedin, August 12. > At Port Chalmers it is stated that a little \ girl named Jones is suffering from small- ' pox. She is living in the house at Careys ! Bay, where Mrs Planning and child stayed before leaving by the Te Anau for the Bluff. Dr. De Lautour says that, as well as 5 he is able to judge at present, the disease , is not small-pox. The child has feverish symptoms, but the disease has not fully 1 declared itself. ; Wellington, August 12. ' Quite a scare was created in town yester- [ day by a rumour that small-pox had broken [ out at the Lower Hutt. The rumour was ' quite without foundation.
