FOOTBALL.
This afternoon the second of the series of three matches, for the ownership of the silver cnp presented by Mr I2hrenfried> will be played on the race-course ground, betwixt the local and Thames Football Teams. We trust the day will prove fine, and in spite of the heavy state of both ground and roads, to see a large gathering to witness what will undoubtedly prove a well contested game. In the evening the visitors will be entertained to dinner at the British Hotel. The following players will do baftle for the rival teams ; — For Thames — Tregnnning (captain), Aper.ihama, Watene, Murray, Anderson,' Lowe, McGregor, Ra« (2), Christie, Hall, O'Sullivan, Irwin, Ngara, and Douglas. Emergencies : Taylor and Patterson. For Aroha — Verity (captain), Trndc, Parker Stewart, Lynch, O'Shea, Sheehan, Hinton, Whitehouso, Purdie, Hawkins, O'Donoghue, Uanks, Gordon, and Dal zcll. Emergencies ; Ellis, Jeffrey, and Steele.
