Melbourne, July IS. — Further cases of the doubtful sickness which is now prevalent have occurred at Hotham and Mount Oambier. The patients have been isolated. Judge Molesv/orth has made an order to stay the winding-up of the local affairs of the Oriental Bank. Melbourne, July 18. The final course for the "Waterloo Cup was run to-day, and resulted in a victory for Melford. Monsoon took the second place. Melbourne, July 19. — The trial of Biddle, the Werribee stationmaster, on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the Little River railway disaster in April last, has resulted in a verdict cf acquittal. Sir William Jorvois is now budily engaged in connection with local defences. It has transpired that the Duke of Manchester, who is now here, is negotiating on behalf of a syndicate to purchase the lease of the Lucknow gold mine. Melbourne, July 22. — Sir Wm. Jervois leaves here to-day by the steamship Waihora, for Bluff. It has transpired that Earl Derby, Secretary of State for the Colonies, will accord Tawhiao an official reception at the Colonial Office to-morrow (Tuesday). Melbourne, July 23. — Further cases of the doubtful disease now prevalent continue to be reported from different points. Sydney, July 18. New Zealand wheat, per bushol, 3s 6d ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, 4s 2d ; the Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, per ton, £33. Sydney, July 22. — A Gazette notice has been issued to-day declaring French and Egyptian ports to be infected, in consequence of the outbreak of cholera. All vessels therefrom will be quarantined on arrival. Adelaide, July 18. Wheat is quoted to-day at 3s 9d. The market is depressed. Flour : Town brands, £9 2s %d to £9 5s ; country ditto, £8 5s to £8 7s 6d. Brisbane, July 2] . The barque Vanguard, 688 tons, which arrived here from London, reports that on the 11th in&t. she came into collision with the barque Farningham, 281 tons, bound from Port Chalmers to Adelaide, while off Tasmania. The^ Farningham suffered severely, and sank in five minutes. All on board were saved, except three seamen who were below and could not be rescued by the Vanguard. The latter vessel was somewhat damaged, but was able to reach the port in safely,
