STRANGE DISCOVERY.
(From the Auckland "Star," July 12.) A workman while engaged in removal of the Shamrock Hotel, at the corner of Albert and Wellesley-streets this afternoon, made a strange digcovery, news of which has given rise to the most frightful rumours. On the ground between two chimneys he found a large quantity of human hair which evidently once adorned the head of a female, and also a quantity of bones tied up in an old rag. The rag was rotten so that the things had probably been there for several years. The bones are believed by some to oe those of a human being, but some which were shewn to our reporter did not bear out this statement. The bones and hair have been placed in the hands of the police for further investigation.
