OUTRAGES AT MANGARE. Auckland, July 9.
Vindictive or revengeful feelings have lod some residents of Mangarc to extreme measures in their desire to retaliate upon Mr George Macro o, of Mangarc, for a real or fancied wrong. Rather moro than a week ago, he found that ono of his bay colts, a valuable animal, had died from strangulation, undoubtedly the act of some malicious porson. Another bay colt had its belly ripped up on the following night, and is now under the treatment of Mr Kinloch, veterinary surgeon. This outrage was on Saturday last followed by another of an equally cowardly and vindictive character, a valuable three-year-old grey filly being found dead with a bulletholo through its temple. The whole of the circumstances have been reported to the police, and a reward of £50 offered for such information as will lead to the conviction of tho offender, but without success. Mr Macrae attributes these outrages to the fact that on the occasion of the recent fatal accident at the gravel pits, he drew the attention of Sergeant Greeno to the dangerous state of the pit. It is said that in consequence of this ho has incurrod the ill will of tho neighbours.
