The Rccidiviste Bill. M. Courmeux has returned to France from Ids special mission to the Australian colonies and New Caledonia ; and his report on the subject of hid mission has been forwarded to the French Premier. The French papers, commenting on this report, state it will probably lead either to tho postponement or modification of the Kecidiviste Bill. Loxuox, June 12. — Arrangements for tho approaching conference on Egyptian affairs are rapidly approaching completion. It is reported that the British Government will withdraw their troorjs from Egypt at an early date, and the Great Powers represented at the Conference are unanimous in making a request to that ellecfc. The Impeiial Treasury are opposing the applications mady by the Bank of Australia for the extension of its present charter. The ground of opposition is that theapplication includes a clause which limits the liability of shareholders regarding note issue. London, June 14. — Tho Solicitor-Oencral for Dublin has given his opinion in favour of the legality of Justico MoleswortU's decision on the question of local liquidation in connection with the affairs of the Oriental Bank corporation, and that tho Government of Victoria are entitled to transfer, as their claim is a charge on the bank's assets at Melbourne.

German Mail Steamers For Australia. Lon'dos", Juno 16. — It is expected that the (Jerman Reichstag will reject the vote recently parsed by the Federal Council for payment of an annual subsidy tf four million marks for the establishment and maintenance of an efficient line of mail steamers between Germany, the Australian colonies, and Eastern ports. London, Juno 17. —In tho House of Commons last night Mr Redmond asked a question with reference to the verdicts in several recent kidnapping ceses in Queensland. The Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Political Secretary of the Colonial Oilice, replied. He stated that the vordicts were of a surprising character, but that it was impossible tor the Imperial authorities to interfere.
