Thb winter is properly set in now ; we may expect plenty of wet with an occasional break of a few fine days. When such occur, every advantage must be taken so as to forward any of the usual autumn work which has been delayed from want of time. Take every opportunity to dig and manure vacant pieces of ground, leaving it in as rough a state as possible. Tomatoes : Pick off and treat as described last week. Pumpkins : Pie melens and marrows should all now be placed in the loft or in a shed to keep for use during the winter. Plant out a few moro cabbages and cauliflowers. Earth up those that are growing, also ottend to the hoeing, weeding, and stirring the soil about the late crops of vegetables, such as lettuce, spinage, onions, turnips, &c. Thin out those that require it. The sweet potatoes should be harvested and stored past, as already described. Tie up a few more lettuces for blanching, also prick out another bed from the seedlings. Spinage : Thin out as it is required for use. All debris and rubbish should be cleared away to the rot heap.
