MINING NEWS. (From the " Coromandel Mail. )
Tokatea. — There is no change in the main level, which is still very hard.
Harbour View. — The tributes are looking well. Will have another crushing shortly.
Corby. — The drive going in to cut the new reef is making good progress, and if the country holds good will soon accomplish the distance.
Success. — No change to report in this mine. Small quantities of gold occasionally seen in stopes.
Queen of England.— The manager is very sanguine of making a good mine of this. He has sunk the Avinze fourteen feet, and has got splendid prospects all the way, but is drowned out with water. He is now driving level to cut reef, and is some SO feet deep ; has about another 150 feet to go.
Mat a wai. — The manager is just nowdoing prospecting work, waiting for the road to be widened. The drive in south end has pas&ed through the shot of gold, but there is still a splendid reef in hand. The drive northward is also on a fine reef, very compact, and full of mineral. Gold has not yet been seen in it, but is expected when further advanced.
Vizard's. — Nothing of any consequence has occurred in this mine. The manager has a considerable quantity of stuff out ready for the battery from the big reef. He has also a parcel from the small leader.
Union Beach. — The manager is still confident of getting payable good. The reef in the intermediate level is looking first-rate, but no gold has been got yet. The works in tho other parts of the mine are going on as usual.
Mariebel— Managerreports having found payable stone in several small leaders off the main reef. He is rapidly getting everything into good working order, and will be ablo to get a good big parcel for crushing in about two months.
Royal Oak. — The manager reports getting a little gold in low level reef. The reef looks remarkably well, and jmanager is confident of getting rich stuff.
