AN IMPORTANT TELEGRAPH CASE. Wellington, May 16.
Thk Secretary of Telegraphs lias received the following message :— "London, May 11. — The trial, Central News Telegraph Company v. Eastern Telegraph Company, concluded to day, after nine days. The Lord Chief Justice summed up in the Eastern Telegraph Company's favour, and put to the jury the question—" Did the defendants, the Eastern Telegraph Company, Sir James Anderson and Mr Benjamin Smith (the Company* Superintendent at Alexandria), divulge the contents of the Uurlcigh message (containing news of the victory of Tel elKehir) '•" To this the jury answered--'No.' This is a verdict in favour of the Eastern Telegraph Company, subject to a point of law yet to bediscussei."
