NARROW ESCAPE OF THE HAWEA. Wellington, May 19.

On her last trip from New Plymouth to Nelson, the steamer Hawea narrowly escaped being run ashore at Cable Bay. During a fog, the vessel was set over to the east, and land suddenly loomed ahead of her. By promptly reversing the engines, the vessel was extricated from her danger.
