In the House of Commons to-day, Gladstone announced that the French Government had accepted the proposal to hold a Conference on Egyptian affairs, but required that they should exchange views between England and France beforehand as to the subjects to be discussed. Gladstone further stated that the Turkish Government has not yet replied to the pro posal, hut that the other European Governments have accepted the same. The Rev. Sydney Linton, the newly-ap-pointed Bishop of ttivevina, New South Wales, was consecrated to-day at St. Paul's Cathedral, with the customary ceremony. A man named M'Donnell, who is known to be the centre of the present Fenian organisation, has been arrested at Wedusbury, Staffordshire.
