The Queen of Tahiti in Paris.

Tiik Queen of Tahiti, who arrived in Paris the other day, will be the guest of France for, it i& stated, a lengthened period. The spouse ot Pomare V., who is not, it seems, living on the best of terms with her husband, has expressed a hope that she will not be annoyed during her stay in the French capital, her greatest desire being to preserve the strictest incof/utUt. this very natural desire on the part of her Majesty be respected by those irrepressible Parisian press leporters, who intrude on the privacy ot everybody with a handle to their names, and \ie with each other in being the lirst to publish an account of an interview '! It Nto be i cared thai it will not ; in fact, already the poor lady, uho wants to tra\cl about quietly, and be "simply Madame instead of Queen for a period," has been pounced upon by an over-zealoup reporter, who went down to Havre and boarded the steamer bringing the distinguished traveller to France whilst it was Jar out at sea. Thus entrapped, it was diilicult for the Tahitian Sovereign to avoid the infliction of an unknown gentleman's visit, however unwelcome the intruder may have been. But she does not appear to have been very communicative, the enterprising journalist being forced to content himself with describing her handsome features, hertall, pommandingiigure, and the ot her attire, She l'equested him to do her one service, however, with an earnestness that ho ought to have taken as a hint for himself. "Tarn anxious," &he said, " not to be bothered or worried whilst in Fiance ; and you will do me a real favour if you will give this wish of mine the fullest possible circulation and effect."
