The amount ok practical information contained in it is invaluable, and I consider it tho best 20s worth jet offered to the New Zealand Public. CoNsuti Gkiffin writes as follows -with reference to this work. As a gentleman of extensive literary acquirements, and acquainted with the valuable library of practical works for which wo are indebted to the United Statos, his opinion is noteworthy:— "The book is the most valuable work of the kind published in the Colonies. I have read every chapter in it with attention and pleasure. The extent, variety, and accuracy of its information are extraordinary. It is what it olaims tone, a Cyclopaedia of Universal Knowledge. The insight that it Rives into the most approved methods of agriculture, the management of live stock, the dairy— in fact everything pertaining to farming operations—commend it to everyono interested in the prosperitj of the r-olony. The editpr has displayed most excellent taste and judgment. All his ideas are eminently broad nnd practical. The arrangement of the subject matter is pimply admirable. I am especially pleaded with the arMdes on vinery, flax, fruit, and hop culture. The abstract of the local Government ami lajid Jaws of this colony is the most succinct and intelligib'e that has come under my' observation,' whilst the printing, binding, and illustrations o£ the work are superb/ '
