(Before Thomas Wells, Esq., J.P. Thursday, March 6, 1884. John Sounders was brought up for drunkenness, and on a second charge for using obscene language. Prisoner
pleaded guilty to both charges. Sergeant Emerson deposed as to nrrestin 1 / prisoner at Waiorongomai whilst in a beastly state of drunkenness, and using mo«t filthy language. J. 13. Kilian gave evidence confirming the charges laid against prisoner. Sentenced for the first offence to pay a fine of 00s and costs, or ii default 7 days. KW the second offence find £10 and costs, or in default 2 months' in Mount Eden Gaol with hard labour, both sentences to run concurrently. Two previous convictions for drunkenness and one for making n«e of obscene language wore recorded against, prisoner.
