Arrival of Competitors. The bulk of the Southern competitors are now here. The Rotorua brought up a number yesterdry, and the Tarawera this afternoon has several on board. Amongst those now in Auckland are the Hon. Major Baillie, and Mr Collins, Staff Officer, I and two ex-champions — Mr Hoskin, of Taranaki (formerly of the 7 hames), and Mr Paynter, of Nelson. The Wellington men are pretty confident that they will be able to take home the carbine belt this time, as in the person of Webb they have a steady reliable shot.
The Scorers. Sixteen scorers and 10 markers h^ve been engaged. The names of the former are as follows :— Messrs Lieut. Selfe, Robertshaw, Huell, Brogan, Davis, Henry, Ardern, Walker, Gibbs, Kellar, Bradshaw, Renner, Dormer, Knight, Keyworth, and O'Donnell,
Sale of Privileges. The sale of privileges for the meeting took place at Messrs B. Tonks and Co.'s auction mart at noon to-day, but the lots offered did not elicit as much competition as was expected. The right to the luncheon room and No. 1 publican's booth fetched £50, being purchased by Mr Sargent, and the right to sell fruit, tea, coffee, etc., was disposed of to Mr Lindsay for £3 los.
Additional Entries. Captain Burwell, of the Southland Hussars, and Trooper Currie of the Waiuku Cavalry, have been entered by telegraph.
