Melbourne, February Hi — Mr Murray was elected to-day as representative in the Legislative Assembly for Warrnambool, vice the late J. G. Francis. Sydney, February 14th. — In the Legislative Assembly la&,t night, the motion of want of confidence in the Government proposed by Sir John Robertson, the leader of the Opposition, came on for discussion. The debate lasted till this morning, when the motion was rejected without a division. A fatal fire occurred this morning at Deniliquin, resulting in the loss of four lives. Sydney, February 15. — The cricket match between the Australian team and the combined eleven of Australia, com- ! menced here to-day. The weather is fine, and there was a moderate attendance of spectators. The Australian team went in first, and were all disposed of for a total of 318. The following are the individual scores: — McDonnell, caught, 60 ; Bannerman, bowled, 1 ; Murdoch, caught, 83 ; Giffen, caught, 1 ; Bonnor, bowled, 62 ; Midwinter, caught, 4G ; Scott, leg before wicket (?) ; Blackham, bowled, 15 ; Palmer, not out, 24 ; Boyle, caught, nil ; Cooper, caught, 6 ; extras, 19. Total, 318. Sydney, February 15.-- The proposed fiscal innovations, as announced in the Treasurer's budget statement, will be further considered in the Assembly on Wed- 1 nesday next. ! Sydney, February 15.—- New Zealand wheat has advanced 2d during the week, and is now quoted at 3s 6d. New Zealand oats have risen to 3s. Maize remains at 4s per bushel, and the Sugar Company's No, 1 pieces at £34 per ton. Sydney, Feb. 18.— In this match, Australian Team v. Combined Eleven, the former made 318 in their first innings on Friday last. On Saturday play was resumed, when the Combined were all out for 222, the highest scorer being Jones, SB. going 96 behind their opponents, they fol-
lowed on their innings, and at tho close of the day's play had lost four wickets for 42. Sydney, February 19. — Arrived, yesterday moi'ning : The steamship Ringaroomn, from Auckland. The Culifornian sheep recently imported have been found after detention in quarantine to hn infected with scab. Sydney, Feb. 19. — Tho cricket match, Australian Eleven v. Combined Team, closed yesterday, when the latter closed their second innings for a total of 113. Tho Australian Elovon, requiring IS runs to win tho match, then commenced their second innings, and scored 20 with tho loss of one wicket, thus winning by 9 wickets. Tho following are the total scores : — Australian Eleven: First innings, 818; second, 20. Combined Tenm : First innings, 222 : second 113. Adelaide, February 15. — The wheat market is very dull, and little business is doing. To-day's quotations are 3s 9d to 3s lOd, nominal. Flour remains about last week's prices. Town brands are quoted at t!) 10s, and country brands at t'S 15s. The freight market is iirm. Freights to London : Steamers, 45s for cereals ; ditto, sailing, 40*.
