AsfCUAi, meeting of tho members of the above-named Society was held lute yesterday afternoon in tho City Council Chambers, for tho purpose of considering the advisability or otherwise ot modifying the resolution* adopted at the general meeting. Col. Haultain occupied tho chair. Mr Ewinettm suggested that tho a oj/icto members should be added to the Executive Committee. The Chairman moved, "That the third and fourth resolution, pawed on the Bth January, be rescinded, and the tollov ing substituted : ' That Auck land be divided into districts : that in each district relief be administered by three ladies and one gentleman, to be elected by the subscribers of the distiict, all such subcommittee- to be responsible to the Executive, nmlinany distrietwhciothesubscribois tail to elect a sub-committee, the Executn c Committee shall luno power to ap[ioint tho sub committee." " Ho believed that it won Id greatly assist the object in \ icy.it relief should be so administered. The tliiid and fourth resolutions passed on January the Bth were, in cflcct (3) that the (General Committee divide the city into twenty dish lets, under a ladies' committee ot twenty mom bers, whose duty would be to visit tho poor and give relict ; (4) thai each lady be emDowered to elect one or more assistants. The Executhe Committee were of opinion that the resolution now proposed would widen the basis of the Society ; it Mould encourage all persons to contiibutc, inasmuch as it would make the conduct of relief more under the contiol ot <sub*ciibeis in districts. — Dr. Muuny Mooie -tiongly supported the resolution.— —Mr Peacock rcgietted that notice had not been given of Hie.se resolutions. It wa* probable that the gieatest amount ot ichef would be required in districts which lai-ed lea-t money. Tin- fact would probably have a \ery impoitant influence upon the management, the cflcct of which could not bo .seen at present.— Mr Dando con--ideied that the etlect Mould be to increase the subscription-. The idea ol the Executive was that it Mould stimulate subscription^ once it became known that relief w ould be administered by ladies and gentlemen in the district. —The Chairman said the thing to be apprehended from the change suggested was that there would boa numberof committees reprcpontmgdistri<;t«, each one Hunting to get as much as they could onto! the iund for their special disti ict. —Mr Peacock thought thatthe ladies Inn ing control of the funds sho uld bo members ot Committee. — After tome further discussion, Mr Ewington a^ked and obtained leave to withdraw his resolution. —Mr Peacock considered it bettor to postpone the consideration of the.-c matters for a week, when the whole question would be broucht up. He would give notice otthe following resolution :—" That tho toan and siuburbs be dhidecl into twche &übdistiicts: that tour ladies be added to the Cencial Committee ; that each lady of the (Jeneial Committee have chaige ot one of the «Mib-districts ; that the E\ccuti\e Committee appoint two ladies to assist each of the ladies in charge. "' The meeting v,as then adjourned for a week ,
