PROFESSOR PAYNE'S ENTERTAINMENT. (From the Auckland " Star.") February 8.
Professgu Payne repeated his wonderful shooting performance at the Opera House last evening, and also gave a very clever representation of "The Bewildered Countryman," in which sketch he introduced the cabinet trick. The apple was shot by the Professor from his brother's head at the fii'st attempt, but such success did not attend his efforts to shoot an apple from his brother's fingers, and it was not till the fourth shot had been fired that the object was struck. The coin phot from his brothers fingers was found near the pit, very much broken. Applause followed each of his clever performances, A similar entertainment will be given this evening.
