HA URAKI SAW MIL COMPANY (LIMITED).
Meeting of Shareholders. The annual mooting of shareholders of the ! above Company was held yesterday at the registered office of the Company (Mr L. D. Nathan's). Present and represented thereat:— Mossrs David Nathan T. L. Murray, George Bagnall, L. J. Bagnall, W. H. Bagnall, and Mr Green, attorney tor Thomas Russell, Esq., (Mr David Nathan in the chair.) Tho Secuetaky (Mr Charles F. Griffiths, solicitor) placed on the table the balanoe-shoet of the Company's accounts to the 3ist December, 1883, together? with the report of the | auditor (Mr Wm. Baker). The balance-sheet was adopted. Mi* David Nathan then retired from tho directory, and, being eligible, was again elected a director of tho Company. Mr Wm Baker was also re-elected auditor. Mr L. J. Bagnall's account with the Company was submitted to the shareholders, and passed. The Secretary then stated that tho rent paid by the lessees of the mill (Messrs Bagnall 8r09.) for the past year had nearly all been absorbed in completing the Company's freehold title to vari- 1 ous blocks of land situated at Turua, Waihou Survey District, and in acquiring further interest in the Waihou Block, in accordance with j the wish of the shareholders expressed at the ] last annual meeting. He produced statements showing fully how all sums had been expended, ! together with a plan of the whole block, pointing out the various subdivisions, He mentioned that Mr L. J. Bagnall acted on behalf of the Company as land purchase agent, giving the Company his servicesfreeof remuneration. The greatest care had been observed, and although large sums of money had to be expended in securing the natives' interests before a title could bo acquired, still he assured the share, holders that the risk attending these purchases always on the spot watching the Company's , interests. Recent legislation had again changed the method of acquiring native lands, but how this is likely to affect the Company's position in the future is really difficult to fortell. A general discuBBion took plase on the position of the Company, j Mr Geo. Bagnall informed the meeting that lit was the intention of the Thames Harbour Board to levy wharfage dues against the I lessees, and expressed his opinion as to the unreasonableness of such a course ; and that he intended to do all in his power to prevent any imposition of this nature. On the recommendation of the Secretary, the situation of tho registered office of the company was changed from the office of Mr L, D. Nathan, Shortlandstreot, to the office of Mr Chas. F. Griffiths, solicitor, High-street ana Vulcan Lane,
