Melbourne, Jan. 18. — The Marquis of Normanby leaves for England via San Francisco in April next. The "Argus" to-day alluding to His Excellency's departure warmly eulogised the manner in which lie lias filled the position of Governor. Sydney, Jan. 18. —It is announced that Government intend introducing in Parliament a Validating Bill to meet the constitutional difficulty which has arisen in connec* tion with the election of some members of the present Ministry through an informality in connection with the " Gazetto " proclamatiou. At the sale of A. Town's Hobartville horses yesterday, the lots offered realised £13,500. The highest price given was £] ,300 for a yearling filly. Sydney, January 18. — The steamer Lismore, 330 tons, has been wrecked at Ballina, at the entrance of the Richmond River. The passengers were saved. The insurances amount to £10,000. Adelaide, January 18.— Wheat, per bushel, 4s to 4s Id. Market quiet and irregular, and quotations nominal. Flour, dull ; town brand, £10 ; country brand £9 to £9 58. Freights to London : Steamers, 455 ; ditto sailing 355; Freights to the United Kingdom from Adelaide : Cereals, 355. Freights to the United Kingdom from outports : 37s 6d to 40s. Freights firm, but charters unsettled and falling.
