Melbourne, January 4. — The agricultural reporter of the " Leader" estimates the yield of wheat in Victoria for the present season at 14,900,000 bushels, being an average of 14J bushels to the acre. The quantity available for export is estimated at 815,000 bushels. Melbourne, Friday. — The cricket match between the Australian team and combined Australia was continued yesterday, Boyle (not out, 40} and Murdoch (not out, 279) resumed their places at the wickets, but the former was soon bowled, without scoring, and the innings thus ended for 619 runs.
Later. The match between the Australian team and combined Australia has been drawn. Melbourne, Monday. — The overland telegraph line between Adelaide and Port Darwin is interrupted. Communication is expected to be restored to-day. Melbourne, Monday. — Seventy one entries have been received here for the NevvJ market Handicap, and thirty-two for the Australian Cup, to be run at the Victorian Racing Club's Meeting in March next. Melbourne, January 8. — The Sydney entries for the Newmarket Handicap amount to 22 ; for the Australian Cup 14, including Martini-Henry. j Sydney, January 3.— The steamer Tomki returned to port to-day, reporting that when 30 miles from the Heads last night it was found that fire had broken out on board, and that one of the pasgsngers had lost his life by suffocation. Sydney, Friday.— The New South Wales revenue last quarter amounted to £860,000, being a decrease of £226,500 as compared with the December quarter, 1882. The revenue for the year ended 31st ult. amounted to £6,480,000, a decrease of £942,000 compared with that for 1882. During the year the revenue from land decreased by £1,040,000. Adelaide, January 3.— -The approximate revenue returns show a large falling off in receipts from several sources. Customs duties are expected to be £40,000 below the estimates. Adelaide, January s.— Wheat remains at 4s 3d. The market is easier. Prices at Port Adelaide are firmly maintained, but those at country stations are out of proportion to the Adelaide prices. Flour : Town brands, £10 to £10 5s ; country ditto, £9 10s to £0 15s. Freights to London : Steamers, 455. Quotations are nominal for charters and . engagement orders. Freights to United Kingdom from out ports are firm, with an upward tendency, at 37s to 40e. Charters quiet. Brisbane, Friday. — The Queensland revenue for the last year amounted to £646,000, an increase of £139,500 compared with the last quarter of 1882 ; increases chiefly in Customs, Land, and Kailway Revenues, Hobart, Friday! — The Earl and Countess Roseberry are now on a visit to this colony. Albany, January 3.— Arrived, yesterday evening, , in King George's Sound ; The P. ana O. steamer Oarftnage, with the inward mails via Suez and Brfn,disi, dated London, November 30.
