AUSTRALIAN NEWS. [PER S.S. RINGAROOMA.]

The races at Kanclwick were the great attraction. Lord lloseberry was amongst those present. The Summer Cup resulted in a brilliant race. Buckingham beat lolanthe for the December Stakes by ' a head only. The racing generally was good. A line of steamers has been organised from Antwerp, Havre, and Bordeaux, to Australia and New Caledonia.

Bkisbane. A serious disturbance occurred at Mackay races on Wednesday. About a hundred Kanakas attacked the Europeans assembled on the course. They were eventually dispersed, but some were seriously injured. The cause of the outbreak is unknown.

HOBART. A large and destructive fire, which occurred at Launceston on Tuesday, destroyed the soap and candle factory of Alexander Evans, on the Esk Esplanade. The loss is total. It is understood to be insured, but not sufficiently to cover the loss.
