VANISHED SMILES.

Twelve months are fled since last we mot— ; What changes do we see around ? With tearful eyes we look, but yet The vanished smile can not bo found. Twelve months ago yon vacant chair Hold in its arms a welcomed one, Whoso smile did seem to banish care, But now the smile for aye is gone. Where is that smile we loved to sec. We cherished as the coming light? We ask again, where can it bo? Without it all the day seems night. How cold will be the festive board When once again some meet at homo, Yet in tho broast the smile is stored, If time has said it shall not come. Ah, where is now the smile so sweet, Which lightened up the darkened place It hovers round the Master's feet, Tis turned towards tho Saviour's face.
