WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting of the above Board j was held on Thursday afternoon. Destruction op Kauri.— The Under-Secre-tary for Mines forwarded a copy of a memo, addressed to Warden Kenrick discouraging the wasteful use of kauri, and asking if unlicensed •utting was still going on. A copy of the Warden's reply was attached, in which he said that while much unlicensed cutting still went on, he did his best to arrest it.— The Chairman pointed out that the Board's action had thus produced good fruit. Takapuna.— The Chief Surveyor reported unfavourably upon Mr George Eraser's request for a line of road through therecrewtion reserve, as he had one already. At any rate, it should only be granted on the proviso that he also gave the public a line of road through his property to the sea.— The matter was referred to the trustees of the reserve. Tamahere.— The Assistant Surveyor-General reported the completion of the survey of nine sections of land at Tamahere.— lt was agreed to offer them for sale. . . _ , , Waikomiti.— The Chief Surveyor having re ported favourably of Mr Bollard's application for the landing reserve at Waikomiti as a site for a tannery, it was decided to offer it for sale. ONEHUNGA.-Sir Gk M. O'Rorko wrote, on behalf of a German named Weber, applying for a portion of the Manukau foreshore as a site for atannery.— The Chairman pointed out that this land was endowment property, but it was agreed to recommend the application for a portion of the foreshore. The remainder of the business consisted of minor applications of no public interest.
