The latest despatch to hand states that the French captured an outpost at Sontay only after a stubborn fight, in which they lost 15 officers and 200 men, the enemy's loss being very heavy. The assault on the Sontay fortress was to take place on the 17th inst. Phuduc has assumed the title of King of Annam, with the support of a large proportion of i inhabitants. His succession, however, was strongly opposed by the remainder of the Annamese. The capital will probably be occupied by a strong garrison of French troops. The vote of credit of 20,000,000 of francs for the Tonquin expedition passed the Senate to-day. St. Petersburg, December 21. —A serious accident happened to the Czar. His Majesty, while hunting, fell M'ith his horse, and injured his shoulder. Hongkong, December 21.— 1t is reported here that the French troops have captured the fortress of Soutay, and are now in possession of the town. No details are yet to hand.
