Co. — During the earl} part of the week a portion of the leader was broken down in the winze and some very good picked stone .secured, the gold being freely seen through the solid stone, intermixed with minerals. The leaders are tast coming together, only about six iuches of mullock now dividing them in the bottom of the winze, and it is expected that after the junction the body of th>* quartz will be larger and the gold richer. The man.iger reports having cut a nice looking reef about 3 feet thick, in which a little gold can be seen, which, on being pounded, gives very encouraging prospects. The reef appears to be the same one as is now beina: worked, by the W.iioromroirui Company. Alma Licenced Holding. — This ground adjoins the Waitoki Extended Gold Mining Company. A party of men have been employed prospecting the ground, and a well defimd reef about 4 feet thick has been uncovered, which yields fair prospects on being pounded. Inverness. G. M. Co. — The gold from this Company was purchased by the Bank of New Zealand at £3 5s Id per oz. Alphabet Company. — The small parcel of stone ti eated by the Battery Company yielded 6oz to the ton. The gold was assayed by the Bank of New Zealand, and valued at £3 9s Id per oz. Waitoki and Werahiko. G. M. Co. — Every tiling in these mines is ready for the battery. The hoppers are full of quartz, and the quartz coming to hand shows gold very freely. Thequartz from the Werahiko closely resembles that found in the rich patches at Waiteknuri. Almost 200 tons of quartz are in the paddock and drives, waiting till the hoppers aie ready for taking it. Waiorongomai. G. M. Co.— The manager is now engaged driving on the reef, towaids the Vermo.it boundary. The reef is about 4 f net-wide ; gold can be seen at every bieakin^ d.»wn. Phoenix. G. M. Co. — In prospecting the cap of the reef this week stone showing culors of gold was obtained. Driving tj intersect the reef at a lower level is b^ing continuul. Tho manager expects to be undei Hie cap of the reef, in a few weeks. Army G. M. Cr>. — Tho manager, Mr W Go'daworthy, has the men empoyed working in tb.it portion of the ground kuown as the Te Aroha, on No 3 reef; the rocf avev».r s 4 feet, no gold is visible; but on \ pounding tho btu.ie good pro.<p..cls can bo i jbtain d.
