THE RETURN FOOTBALL MATCH, TE AROHA Y. THAMES.
The representatives of the To Aroha Football Club left this pLtce early on Saturday morning fast for the purpose of playing the return match, Te Aroha v. Thames, in that fast, little steamer, " The Despatch," and right well named she is, for sho is a remarkably fast boat. We had a very jolly tune during the run down, and arrived at the Thames about midday. We, that is both parties, met at the Royal at 2.30, and wore cnnvoj'ed by a coach named u Kerkett's M unmoth " to the P.imwui gardens. On our arrival there wo were allotted the S.W. g.iol for defence, placed as follows : — MoFarlane, and (Jooke, backs ; Verity (captain) and Brcnnan, half bacKS ; Qtiig? y and Whituhouse, quarter backs; Burgess Coleman, Henson, Stewart, Smith, Trud \ Gordon, Morgan »nd Ireson, forwards. The Thames team placed thus : Lowo, full back ; Wutem\ three-quarter b'tck ; Jones and Christie, half backs; Apcrahama and Tregonuinj? (captain), «{a<irter backs ; O^lp, Fritter, DonajlaH, Hao, McGregor, Audei'bou, Taylor, Grtilies and Alloiu Cor-w-trds. Airey and Thorn.is, umpires, and GelHon as refero* 5 . The referee was not culled upon to settle any disputes, in con--•cquence of the good feeding displayed qy both parties. Tlio game collsi^tc > d of four twenty - minute term*. Thus the gume ended in a draw.
