TROUBLE UNDER ROADS AND BRIDGES CONSTRUCTION ACT.
A hitch has been discovered respecting this Act which may have the effect of delaying for a year the batch of roads applied to be scheduled by Mr George the oth>) day, and also two roads in Franklin South. application concerning which vros rmide h\ Major Hamlin. The Law Officers advise that these works cannot be placed on th< schedulo unless gazetted before the 31*. March,* whereas the Act distinctly providethat no works may l>e gazetted until the r^olntione have been passed by the House This virtually means that works under the Act cannot he yroceeded with uinil one year after resolution approving of then has passed the Hou^e. Majom Hamlif and George deputationised the Premier on the matter this afternoon.
