Lietenyi, ex-President of the Soviet at Tsarit. syn, and formerly the terror of the Lower Volga, for whose head the Soviet is offering ten million roubles, is related in a Bolshevist official order at Pravada. Lietenyi is said to have massarcred fifteen hundred persons, half of whom were women and children. During - the past three months, after he had been expelled from Tzaritsyn, he, with a band of Kalmucs seized a river steamer and proclaimed himaelif Ruler of Astrakhan. He ravaged villages and slaughtered the inhabi- + o nt.s. For example, in October, he killed all the men in a village and carried off the women, who were kept on the steamer for throe days. He then cut their throats and their bodies were thrown into) the river, Lietenyi and his fellow ruffians, late in November, bhirned the steamer and started for the Can. cusus with a huge amount of booty.
