A TRAWLER SWAMPED. This day. The harbour -watchman yesterday found the trawler Nora Niven, which was tied up at Queen's wharf for the L holidays, settling down by the steirn. Examination disclose a couple of feet of water over the engine room plates. The fire brigade pumped the ship dr& and the tug Pelican later stood hy, keeping the water down in the Nora Niven. . It is that a heavy jobble on the harbour, owing to the northerly wind, caused the ship to strain some rivets. The vessel will be "slipped 3 ?' to-day for examination. FIRE AT BURNSIDE. DUNEDIN Dec. 28. A fire was discovered at 1.30 a.m. to-day in Kempthorne, Prosser and Co's. chemical -works at Bumside, and firemen were dispatched from the city. After fighting the flame's for three hours the firemen were successful in suppressing them, a splendid save being effected. One I fireman, Charles Ingram, of South W Dunedin, had his head injured.' and was removed to the hospital. FIRE a BLIGHT IN OTAGO. DUNEDIN Dec. 28. 3 I Fireblight has made its appearance in Otag&. Hawthorn hedges at Taieri are badly affected.
