THE WOOL SITUATION.
MANUFACTURERS’ PROTEST. Received 9.20 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 17. . The West Yorkshire Woollen Manu-twenty-four cloth-manufacturing firms, resolved that Government’s retention of wool for two years after the armistice "by fixing high reserves has been an unjustifiable interference with the natural course of trade, <x,nd is the principal cause of the present calamitous condition of the woollen industry, with the result that thousands of British woollen workers are already unemployed, and scores of thousands are on half-time or less. The Association believed that nothing less than a complete abandonment of attempts to control wool prices will bring a measure of stability to the distressed industry.
