At the Raurimu suorts on Saturday, W. Gregory, of Taihape, won the single-handed saw on 3secs, and W. Gregory and J. Neal won the double saw easily. Neal (lSsecs) also placed second in the underhand chop.
Parapara settlers are taking strongexception to the suggestion of a trial survey of a suggested railway line from Eaetihi to Wanganui. The survcy is estimated to cost about £12,000 and the settlers consider that it would be iniquitous to spend that amount of money before they have anything like a decent road.
The news of the death of Mrs F. Chisselden will be received with regret by a large number of friends in Raetihi. Up till recently Mrs Chiselden has been residing" at Mangaweka with her husband, and was at the time of her death in. a private hospital at Taihapo, at, which place she passed away on Sunday.—County Call. ..
