OBITUARY.

MR RICHARD HEALEY. The death occurred last night al lire Taihape Public Hospital of Mr Richard Healey, one of the best, known residents of Taihape. The deceased gentleman was 65 years of age. He was bom in Waterford Ireland, and

camo to New Zealand about 46 years ago. Ho married a daughter of tho late Mr Conaghy, of Geelong, Victoria, and was in business in Dunedin for some years. He camo to the N&rth Island later, and worked on the Main Trunk railway for a few years, after which ho took on a boardinghouse at j Mangaweka. His wife died there ? and I he was later married to a daughter of Mr P. Skloners, of Rongotea. In 1905, lie came to Taihape and established himself in tho Railway Buff'd, of which ho was the proprietor up till the time of his death. During his residence here, Mr Healey had always taken a keen interest in public afand was among the members of early Borough Councils soon after the borough was established in 1996,. held office as a Councillor in numerous i successive Councils, and retired from

public life a few years ago. His health had not been of the best* within the past year or two. and last week his condition became more serious on account of his having contracted pleurisy and pneumonia, which acted on a weak heart to such aifextent as to cause his death. The decease! was highly respected throughout the whole district, and his numerous friends will regret to learn of his death and will feel the deepest sympathy for the widow and family in their sad bereavement. Deceased leaves two sons and three daughters of the first family and three sons and a- daughter of the second family. The funeral will leave St. Mary's Church -for the Taihape Cemetery at 1.45 p.m. on ber.
