AMUSEMENTS.

nICTURE NOTES.

(By the Film Fiend.) It's an easy matter to determine how William Ru)fcelKgot his title of "Fighting Bill Russell" after seeing him use himself in "All the World to Nothing." Yet this same fighting demon, a few moments later dims the eyeje with tears and throbs your heart with pathos. Bessie Barnscale gives a wonderful performance in The White Lie, to be presented at the King's on Wednesday and Thursday. Do you know the story of "The Broken Melody"? Eugene O'Brien will put over bj/s best effort at the Town Hall on Saturday when this feature will, be shown and it's some picture. We are all glad Norma Talmadge is to be seen here again shortly in The Way of a Woman. It is an adaptation of the famous stage success The Miracle Man (no relation to the Te Kuiti man) should prove a top-notch Xmas Night attraction. J. W. Griffiths, of Birth of a« Nation fame, has issued another big /success. The Greatest Question. It is booked for Taihape Jan. 3 and 4, together with Charlie Chaplin's latest "A Dayi's Pleasure," which is Charlie's adventures* with a Ford Car. Such bookings as thjfse are a good start for 1921, and the other attractions to follow are far in advance of what has previously been offered, here,

RANGIWAEA SPORTS. The settlers of Rangiwaea and Raketapauma have arranged a big sports gathering which will be held in the school grounds on Boxing Day, Monday, 27th December. The sum of about ,£SO will be allocated in prizes, and there will be about £8 worth of toys for the children. The programme is one of unusual merit, and the (promoters are hopeful that their enterprise in aid of the school will be amply rewarded by the attendance Of the residents of all parts of the district. The chief events on the" programme are advertised in this issue.
