s\ t WELLINGTON, Dec. 1L "Farmers in the wheat-growing districts been urging the Government tofix the price of wheat next year. Thf Minister o£ AgriculfttUTe (Hon. W. NoTWorthy) stated to-day that he did not pj-opose to undertake the fixing of the new prices until Febi ruary, after the necessary information Ahad been received. The farmers could he assured that the Government would do the fair thing. WATERSIDERS AND RAILWAYMEN. TIMARI7, Dec. 11. Tima r u watersiders ceased work this morning in consequence of refusal hy railway union workers to amalgamate. The Dispute Committee is now sitting. Meanwhile work is held up. The Te Anau is the only vessel in port. • NO CEMENT FOR OTIRA TUNNEL. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 11. Owing to cement shortage work has ceased at the Otira tunnel. FREEZING WORKS DISPUTE. WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. In answer to a statement. made by Mr Niall in connection with the freezing dispute, it is pointed out by the owners that one conference with the employees' representatives was held in October, ana at a later conference of freezing companies a committee was set up to meet the" federation" representatives. Mr Niall, on behalf of th federation, declined this conference, as already reported in a previous Press message. In his statement Mr Niall ignores the fact that the companies offered to submit the dispute to the Arbitration Court.
