THE MIRACLE MAN.
s Ratana, the Maori villae near Turakina, would seem in a air way to become tell New Zealand “Grotto of Lourdes,” judging by teh way Maoris are swarming there to be cured or everything from toothache to broken and diseased bones. Tahu Wiremu Ratana, the “miracle man,” meets them all philosophically, but the crowds of Maori pilgrimsi who have to be fed are causing a severe tax on Tahu RatanaSs larder. Pakehas are also visiting Ratana, more out of curiosity than anything else, and a Maori representative called at the Wanganui Herald office the other day to say that the visit of the pakeha brother will be more welcome after the Christmas holidays than at present. Tahu Katana's 1 time is apparently fully occupied with church building arrangements, and the constant attention which sick visitors require and it would bo considered a kindness if pakehas would postpone their visits to Ratana until after the erection of the new church and the termination of Christmas festivities.
