•'.NATURE'S GENTLEMAN." To-night and Thursday another big English production is offered under the title of "Nature's Gentleman. 7 " John Davis, D.C.M., is invalided out of the army, and returns' to his prewar occupation as'the servant of an eccentric millionaire with democratic ideas, Sir Herbert Wilding, who now appoints Davis as his personal companion. Lady Harcourt, a frequent- visitor, is very annoyed at being forced to meet a 'mere servant' on terms of equality. Her horror is unbounded when Sir Herbert dies and leaves hi i < money to Davis ©n condition that .he maries Lady Harcourt J s daughter Beatrice. However, being on the verge of bankruptcy, she has to consent to the marriage, while, strangely enough, her daughter does not seem at all reluctant to marry the "servant." Davis decides to marry Beatrice that she may have the money and then let hex divorce Mm. He leaves her and
goes into lodgings where he works hard at, an invention. An officer whose life he saved in the war, Capt. Baltry, finances the invention. Lady Harcourt calls on Baltry, who is an old acquaintance, and who, not knowing that Davis is married to Beatrice, introduces his friend as an inventor and a coming young man. When he learns the truth, Baltry discreetly retires from the room, and Beatrice declares that she loves Davis and will not £pve him up for her mother or anyone else, Baltry decides to drop out.
