MEDICAL TEEATMENT. The Secretary of the Taihape B.S.A. has been advised as follows: The liefence Department will provide medical treatment for discharged soldiers who are suffering from a recurrence of illnesses arising out of and directly cause:, by their service in the Forces,. such as the re-opcning of a wound,, muscular rheumatism, neurastenia, pneumonia, or any other ailment which renders them unfit to follow their daily avocation, and also for any, other disabilities for which the Direc-tor-General of Medical Services may grant treatment, on consideration of each individual case. LOANS UNDER THE D.S.S. ACT:. The R.S.A. has received the following notification from Headquarters: The regulations governing the loan, under the D.S.S. Act, for the purpose of erecting a house for residence purposes on a town property (at present £750) are now feeing amended in order t- provide, for the sum being increased to £9OO.
j PRIVILEGE LEAVE TICKETS, The following is the Defence Department's notification with reference to privilege leav3 tickets. "I have to advise yoif that \arrangetnents have now been completed with the Railway Department, whereby the period of avaflaSility for four weeks' privilege rail tickets is extended to 2Sth February, 1921, in lieu of 30th inst. as previously fixed, and telegraphic advices accordingly have been issued to all Group and Area' etc. This means, of course, that four weeks/ tickets must, to have full availability, be drawn on or prior to 31sfc January. Tickets already issued for a lesser period than four weeks so as to expire on 30th November, will T)e extended to cover four weeks fiom <late or ticket on personal applicUTToTGfto" an3"*"raiiway stationmaster. Guards on trainsare NOT empowered to extend these tickets. Men who have not applied locally to Group Officers for their four weeks tickets by the 30th instant, will re-* quire to make application, to the Of-ficer-in-Charge, War Accounts and Records, Wellington, after that date. The present provisions in regard to men undergoing hospital treatment will now apply as from 28th February, viz., those who, owing to health, have been unable to travel, may draw their tickets within one month from date of discharge from hosptfST, "fhe~ neCtssary medical certificate to support claim for ticket being issuable by the hospital medical officer."
