ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
A GUN ACCIDENT. AUCKLAND, Dec. I. Unusual circumstances surrounded a gun accident which occurred at Orafcel Settlement, this morning as a result of which a Maori giri named Rachael Paul, 15 years of age, was wounded in the left arm and below the left eye. When the accident happened' the girl was sitting in one room of her parents' house, writing at a table. Her brother was in an adjoining apartment; dling: round with a shot gun,"-accord-ing to one report of the incident; Suddenly the weapon was fired, and the" shot penetrated throug'h the wooden wall of the room and struck the girt as stated. Dr Grant was summoned and advised the girl's removal to the Auckland Hospital. | The patient travelled to the instiuion, and on arrival was able to give an account of the accident. Her injuries are not considered serious.
SUDDEN DEATH! . AUCKLAND, This day. The Rev. J. R. Burgin,, Vicar of St, Peters, Onehunga, attended a confirmation service and choir practice last I evening, and went home in apparently I his usual health. At 1 a.m. a doctor was summoned, and Rev. Burgin dieoT at. 3 a.m. He had served with the 3rd and 4th Rifle Brigade in Egypt and France, and was gassed on the | Somme.
