SINN FEIN IN ENGLAND.

FIRE-RAISING IN LONDON. LONDON, Nov. 29. The city police foiled an attempt to burn a timber yard belonging to Ingram Perkins Company at Finsbury. Six men were seen. It is believed they were all armed, bul they dispersed. Several oil cans and revolvers were found on the premises. After a chase a man was detained. Revelations are expected when he is charged to-day. Some believe the episode indicates the opening of Sinn Feiirlyutrages in London.

THE LIVEEPOOL FIEES. LONDON, Nov. 29. Eighteen fires broke out in Liverpool and nine in the Bootle area, extending several miles. Sinn Feiners carried out the plot with skill and daring. Each Building was allotted to four or "five men, apparently strong, athletic youths well coached in the task. One kept watch in each case while the. others picked locks and cut through padlocks with bolt cutters, of which a number were found on the burning premises. They thus,, removed the iron bars of warehouse doors. Motor cars'were evidently used to convey petrol, of which considerable quantities were used. In most cases "the fire had a firm hold of the buildings before the brigade arrived. The brigades had so many calls that Liverpool called in Birkenhead, Warrington arid St. Helens to assist. In some cases quart bottles of petrol were found in the burning buildings, a number of which were cotton warehouses full of valuable stuff. Even in eases Where buildings were saved; great damage was done owing to the gutting. The damage has not been ascertained, but it is estimated at hundreds of thousands sterling. The 'police are overwhelmed with demands for special protection of offices and warehouses.

THE ARRESTS. LONDON. Nov. 29. Apart from a man arrested- redhanded in Bootle, four others have been detained. The man captured when Ward was killed refuses to disclose his identity, but he has a strong Irish brogue. The police believe the plot is due to outsiders, as the Liverpool Sinn Feiners are well known, and are considered unequal to this effort. THE TIMBER YARD FIRES. AN ACCUSED REMANDEB. INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE. Received 10.15 a.m. ' LONDON, Nov. 29. William Robinson, the man arrested after the Finsbury timber yard fire, was remanded." Bail was not granted. The Liverpool man who was arrested ■ on Saturday evening, charged with the -murder of Daniel AV.ard, refused to ' give his name and address, but ' admitted that he was an Irish Sinn Feiner. He was found fo be in possession of a pencil sketch of the premises at 'which the fifes occurred. DAMAGE AT LIVERPOOL. GOOD WORK BY FIREMEH. Received 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 29. Firemen at Liverpool remained «m ! duty for thirty hours, resolved to prevent an extension of the damage, which it is estimated will run into millions sterling. The plot aimed" at the complete destruction of the great business /quarters, and probably would . have !succeeded but for the firemen's efforts. Received 11.10 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 29. The public galleries in the House of Commons were closed to-day. Extra police are on duty in the precincts of St. Stephen's.
