MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1920. (Before Mr E. W, Burton, S.M.) BREACHES OP LIQUOR LAWS. James Claud, on two charges of having obtained liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, was fined £2 with 7/ costs on each charge. George W. Dean, on a charge of having procured liquor for James Claud, a prohibited person, was fined £5, with 7s costs, in default thirty days' imprisonment. BREACHES OF BYE-LAWS. John Pi-ouse was convicted arid ordto pay the costs of the prosecution on two charges of breaches of the byelaws. A MISCHIEVOUS YOUTH. A boy aged twelve years was charged with havng committed mischief at Ohutu by breaking three carriage windows on the 17th Inst., and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. The parents of the youth were ordered to pay the cost of the damage done, amounting to £1 17/6, and of the police expenses, amounting to £1 15/.
In connection with this case, the police had been put to a great deal of trouble, as it had been reported that the express train had been fired on when (passing Ohutu, and the matter was investigated thoroughly with the above result.' CLAIM FOE A TROPHY. In connection with the case McConibie v. Moawhango Collie Club, tTie Magistrate reserved his decision. The case was a claim for a trophy won by plaintiff's entry at the dog trials, and which had not been over. The defence was to the effect that the competition was for owners residing within a prescribed area and that the plaintiff was not eligible to compete. The Court adjourned at 6 p.m. and resumed this morning.
