WOOL, SKINS AND HIDES.

Dalgety & Co. Ltd., report having, held their first sale of sheepskins since the Commandeer yesterday",’ when a hjehvy offering was put forward to a full bench of buyers. As we ex« pected, prices, in sympathy with pre--sent state of wool market, were very low but. ssellers evidently had decided to meet the fall and very few lots' were passed in. Christchurch . and Dannevirke sales had been held prjevious to Wellington and'locdl brokers had to take their line of valuation from results of these two saljes, and there was very little difference in the range of prices. Realisations on butchers skibs under present sale prices wren 1 compaed with' Commandeer rates show a tremendous depreciation, i The fall on full woolled skins ranging j from 100 to 150 per cent, and this , must have a diepressisg effect on local fat stock markets for any sheep of- | fered in the „ wool. It would appear ; that prices have about touched bed- ! rock but at the moment there is no j indication that rates will appreciate©-, for sometime to come. Any skins carrying seed were poorly compieted for. and the same remarks apply to damaged and stale pelted.
