PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Last night in the Presbyterian " Assembly the Rev.-Gray Dixon, of Dunedin gave an aceopht- of the Faith and; , Order Movement which seeks for- the reunion of Christendom, He moved; that the movement be approved of by the Assembly, and that the Church appoint a corresponding secretary ta keep. in touch with it.. This was seconded by Rev, James Maine, ofThamcs, who suggested Mr. Gray. Dixon 's name, and it Nvas unanimously

agreed to. "The League of Nations” formed the subject of a discussion by the Presbyterian General Assembly to-day. A motion by the Rev. Dr, Gibb, seconded by the Rev. Dr. Erwin, was passed unanimously. It was to the effect: "That the Assembly regards with profound misgiving the failure of the Powers, and especially the /United States, to .concentrate on the

development o£ the League of Nations. The Assembly records its solemn conviction that, not by the fostering of an aggressive military spirit, but by mutual disarmament, open treaties and' the spirit of mutua Iconeiliation and. goodwill contemplated by the League,, Will it be possible to avoid future wars. The Assembly therefore calls upon'its ministers, office-bearers and people to familiarise themselves with the terms and constitution of the League, and to do all in their power to promote and sustain a public opinion which' will lead to world-wide adoption of the League and revision of the ideal of universal peace and brotherhood which it enshrines. ’ ’
